Establishing yourself as a professional musician takes effort. It’s naïve to believe that your love for the instrument is an everlasting affair.
In real life, relationships of all kinds (including yours with music) need work and fuel to keep the engine running.
Unfortunately, people don’t feel the same way every day; we have moods and problems to deal with—a life full of situations that will require you to burn your entire tank.
How do you replenish?
Motivation is the fuel to keep the engine running.
Motivation is the adrenaline I get when I watch Michael Jordan’s re-plays. It’s what you feel when you hear your favorite string quartet live or your favorite soloist in action. Motivation is the solution to keep fighting for your goals. It’s the gas to keep your motion.
Some motivators are (for me): Master classes, performances, lessons, studying scores, reading (get The Talent Code), YouTube, violinists websites.
Last advice, find your gas and don’t stick to it. Keep looking for other sources to fuel your engine.
